So you get your google voice number but now you realize you have to use the web interface to make calls, send text and listen to voice mail or you can jailbreak your iPhone and get a app like GV-mobile. Well as you may know jailbreaking your iPhone is not easy and apple is working on making it harder to jailbreak. You might be in luck because there might be workarounds. <br /><br />Having a iPhone and dealing with google voice becomes a problem only for text messagers. Once you setup a number to ring and the rules, all calls get routed and maintenance is pretty easy. Getting your voice mail is also pretty easy by going via safari but later I will show you how you can get instantly notified via push nortification. First let me show you all the options you have and the pros and cons.<br /><br />1. You could set google voice to send all text messagers to your iPhone number.<br /><br />Pros: This would be ideal but has has a big con.<br /><br />Cons: You will have to pay $20 per phone and it starts to add up when you have a family plan. <br /><br />2. Using an email account to receive Text messagers.<br /><br />Pros: This option will work and the ease of use is great.<br /><br />Cons: The iPhone does not have push Email for google. You may have to buy a software if your already using your exchange account. The you have to create a second email account to keep your text messagers and emails seperate.<br /><br />3. Using an iPhone app like textfree (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/textfree-lite-send-text-messages/id305928665?mt=8) which has a email account and push nortification. <br /><br />Pros: Instant nortification of text messagers and voicemail. Get using email address which can be saved under the contacts. There is a free version of the app (Make sure you update your google account with the textfree email).<br /><br />Cons: free version of the app has ads.if you would like to get rid of ads you will have to pay $5.00.<br /><br />Personally I would go with number three.
